Mission Statement

Our over all mission is to address the social, economic and cultural issues of the area.  To work towards the personal development of individuals in the area to furtherthe promotion of community development.

To empower groups and individuals by providing information, support, services and training.

We seek to address issues of poverty, unemployment, social exclusion and marginalisation locally and to the end we lobby and work with all relevant agencies to improve facilities thus creating a positive enviornment where the needs of the community can be addressed.

Aims:

  1. To work with the community of Mullaghmatt/Cortolvin area to help meet the needs and concerns on the residents.
  2. To seek constructive ways to tackle poverty, unemployment and issues around social exclusion and marginalisation.
  3. To provide opportunities for education, training and employment and issues for the residents of the area.
  4. To strive to attain equality for everyone in Mullaghmatt/Cortolvin area.
  5. To improve self esteem, confidence and morale of everyone in the community.
  6. To act a resource to support local community groups and encourage community cohesiveness.
  7. To organise educational and social programmes for childrren and young people in the community.
  8. To encourage and support the participation of the residents of Mullaghmatt/Cortolvin areain the activities and aims of the committee.
  9. To network and lobby to improve facilities in the area.

The Principles of Community Development

The project works from the following principles:

  1. An Anti-Poverty, Anti Exclusion focus.
  2. Community Development Principles of Inclusion, Participation, Equality, Non-Discrimination and Non-Sexist Policies and Practice.
  3. The principle of involving representatives of groups which experience poverty and social exclusion within our management structures.
  4. Being a resource for Community Development Activity int the area.
  5. Providing co-ordination between community, voluntary and groups in the area.
